Furthermore, through the academic year 2014-15 the HCoE in collaboration with university students and primary schools has uploaded the following 19 interactive web maps:

  1. Eight (8) historical maps: a) 1st Balkan war, b) 2nd Balkan war, c) Greek-Turkish war of 1919-1922 (two maps), d) 1st Ancient Greek colonization, e) 2nd Ancient Greek colonization, e) 1st Crusade and f) 2nd Crusade
  2. Seven (7) geography maps: a) map of the Technical Public Works in Greece, b) map of the archaeological sites, c) road map, d) map of the Greek climate, e) world map of the casualties in each country because of earthquakes during 1970-2008, f) population density map of Greece and g) map of the volcanoes and epicenters of earthquakes since 550 B.C.
  3. Four (4) school maps: a) “The hidden treasure” by the pupils of the primary school of Agia Paraskevi Kozanis, b) tourist map of Aravissos village by the pupils of Aravissos, Pella, village, c) photos of the steam electric power plant of Kardia, Kozani by the pupils of 8th primary school of Kozani and d) the course of Kosmas the Aitolian by the pupils of the primary school of Dimitritsi, Serres.  

The Greek digital-earth Center of Excellence for the Geographical Education was found in 08/6/2012 after the approval of the evaluation committee of the digital-earth.eu Centre of Excellence of the European Program Digital-earth (Comenius Network project).

Aims of the center:To participate and cooperate with other Centers of Excellence through digital-earth.eu  To promote the ideas of the network and contribute to the incorporation of digital geography in the Geography Curricula in the compulsory levels of education

The purpose of the center is to participate and cooperate with other Centers of Excellence through digital-earth.eu. To promote the ideas of the network and contribute to the incorporation of digital geography in the Geography Curricula in the compulsory levels of education.

Target Groups:Teachers of any grade level.People who want to work with digital geography in education. Education officials. Scientific and educational associations of various disciplines.Centres of Educational Research.
